Yippee-Ki-App Help

Quick Start

Yippee-Ki-App makes it easy to create AI-generated images using the world's cutting-edge AI models. These models are still experimental, so be aware that while they can be fun and useful, they can sometimes be disappointing as well. We hope you will use Yippee-Ki-App in the spirit of fun and exploration for which it is intended.

Intro

When you first launch Yippee-Ki-App, you'll be presented with a screen that allows you to start a new project in one of three ways:

Hopefully, the first two options are self-explanatory. The 3rd option is described below.

If you have any existing projects, these are also shown and you can click on one of them to open it for further editing.

New image generation

If you select the 3rd option, you'll be prompted to sign into the app. Press the "Sign in with Apple" button. If you already have an account, this will sign you in. If you don't already have an account, then this will prompt you for your basic contact information and then it will create a new account for you to use.

Once you're signed in, type a description of the image you want to generate. For instance: "a giraffe holding balloons". Click the "Generate" button. If will take several seconds, but the system will generate a new image and give you a chance to review it before starting a new project with it.

Project Editor

Once you have a project open, you'll see a toolbar at the top of the screen and another at the bottom. In the middle will be your image with a caption.

Basic manipulation

slide your finger on the screen to move the image around. Use a two-finger pinch gesture to increase or decrease the image zoom.

Caption/Prompt

The image will have a caption immediately beneath it. The caption serves as the text prompt for any image generations that you do. Click the caption to edit it.

Top toolbar

At the top of the screen are several options/indicators.

At the far left is an indicator that shows you your current token usage, or a reminder to log in if you have not already. The indicator is shown as a pie chart. The fuller the green pie, the more credit you have available before you need to pay off your account. You can click the indicator to go to the store.

In the middle of the top bar are 3 buttons you can use for undo/redo operations. The left arrow is for undo. The right arrow is for redo. The center button allows you to navigate complicated undo/redo scenarios where there is more than a single redo operation available to you. With this tool you can, for instance, try out several different options for editing your project and cycle between them before settling on the best.

At the far right of the top bar is a button that will take you to the settings menu.

Bottom toolbar

There are 4 tools available on the bottom of the screen.

On the left is the "generation" button. Select this when you want to have the AI generate new images. More details on this are provided below.

The next button is the arrow. Use that to move your image around or zoom.

The next button is the eraser. Select that when you want to erase parts of your image. When selected, a slider is shown that allows you to adjust the size of the eraser. Once you've chosen your size, simply swipe your finger directly on the image to erase parts of it. Don't worry -- you can always use the undo/redo buttons to fix mistakes.

The final button on the bottom bar is the share button. Use that to export your project to your photo album or share it in other ways.

Image Generation

The image generation tool (found at the far left of the project editing view) allows you to generate new images. When the tool is selected, simply press the "generate" button that's shown and confirm in the dialog box. You also have the option of expanding the generation tool to adjust its settings. (Click the up arrow to the far left of the "generate" button. And once expanded, you can click it again to hide the settings.)

When the image generation tool is selected, you'll notice a dashed blue "generation frame" shown on top of your project. This shows you where any generated image will be placed in your project. You can change the size of the generation frame in the expanded generation settings. Be aware that large frame sizes (larger than 1024x1024) result in some reduction in the image quality.

Another option available in the generation settings is the type of generation. This can be simply "generation" -- in which the model will fill in any transparent areas inside the dashed blue generation frame with new content, in accordance with the caption/prompt you've provided. Areas outside your image count as transparent, even if they do not display the transparency checkerboard pattern.

The other option is "variation". When you create a variation, the model looks at whatever is inside the dashed blue generation frame and tries to create a new image that is similar to that. For a variation, the caption/prompt is ignored.

You can move the generation frame around by sliding on the screen with your finger. Position it to your liking and then press the "generate" button at the bottom right. Confirm in the dialog that is shown. It will take many seconds for your generated image to be displayed.

Settings menu

The settings menu offers many options, including links to helpful resources.

Save and close project

If you have a project open, you can save and close the project from the settings menu. Note that the project is also automatically saved regularly while you're working on it. So in many cases it will be saved even if you don't manually close it. Also note that when a project is saved, only the current view is saved -- the undo/redo versions are lost.

Manage account

From the "Manage account" link, you can perform some basic account operations: signing out or deleting your account.

Store

You can also visit the store. The store will show you your current token usage, and if you've used up enough credit it will give you options for paying off your account.

Tokens

Generating AI images is a process that takes a lot of processing power in the cloud. Unfortunately it is not free. Yippee-Ki-App accounts for your usage with "tokens". Each image generation consumes some number of tokens (currently 100, but that may change over time). When you create a new account, you start out with credit you can use to try out the app before spending any money on it. Feel free to use up your credit experimenting. Once your credit is used up, you'll need to pay off your account before you can generate more images. Visit the Yippee-Ki-App store whenever your usage is getting high -- buttons will be available to allow you to pay off your balance.

If you choose to stop using Yippee-Ki-App, then you don't need to worry about paying off any remaining balance. It's our thanks for giving the app a try.

The more you use the app, the greater a balance you'll be able to maintain which will mean that you won't need to pay off your account as frequently.

Moderation

Youreka Tech intends to provide a safe and healthy environment for experimenting with these AI systems. For that reason, before images are generated, text prompts are double-checked for any content that could violate policies regarding violence, abuse, explicit content, etc. This moderation is not perfect, and you may sometimes find that it fails to generate images due to failed moderation.

There are other situations where it may fail, such as system maintenance or defects within these experimental systems.

That's It

Thanks for giving Yippee-Ki-App a try. We truly hope you'll have a good time playing with it, and perhaps even find it useful.

Enjoy!
